Clasper is your family's private space. Your photos, recipes, messages, and memories belong to you — not us. We can't see your content, we don't want to, and we built it that way on purpose.
When you sign up and use Clasper, here's what gets stored:
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with anyone. Ever. No exceptions.
Your data is stored securely with row-level security — meaning each family's data is completely walled off from every other family. Passwords are hashed (scrambled beyond recognition), and every connection uses HTTPS encryption. Private messages are encrypted on your device before being stored — our servers only see ciphertext for those communications. Your family's photos, recipes, events, and other shared content are stored securely on our servers, protected by authentication and row-level security. Only authenticated members of your family can access them. They are not accessible to other families, the public, or Clasper staff.
Clasper supports kid and teen accounts within a family hub. These accounts are created by a parent or guardian who manages the family hub. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 without parental consent. The parent/guardian who creates the hub is responsible for managing their children's accounts.
Clasper uses browser local storage (not tracking cookies) to save your preferences, cache content for offline use, and keep you logged in. We do not use third-party tracking cookies or analytics that follow you across the web.
Clasper uses the following third-party services:
These services have their own privacy policies. We only share the minimum data required for them to function.
Clasper does not display advertisements. We do not track your behaviour for advertising purposes. We do not sell data to advertisers. Your family hub is a private, ad-free space.
By using Clasper, you agree to:
We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate these terms. If you believe a hub is being misused, you can report it from Settings or by emailing support@clasper.net.
Clasper is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. While we strive to keep your data safe and the service running smoothly, we are not liable for data loss, service interruptions, or any damages arising from the use of Clasper. We recommend keeping your own backups of important family content.
All content posted within a family hub — including recipes, photos, messages, posts, and any other user-created material — is the sole responsibility of the user who created it. Clasper does not review, verify, or endorse any user-generated content.
Safety is always #1. Parents and guardians are responsible for monitoring content shared within their family hub, especially when children or teens are members. Clasper provides the tools — how they are used is up to your family.
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of Clasper after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
Clasper is operated from Canada. We comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy legislation. You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information at any time by contacting us.
Your data is kept for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will remove your personal data within 30 days. Some anonymized, non-identifiable data may be retained for service improvement. Backups containing your data are automatically purged within 90 days of deletion.
Private family communications (messages, posts, drops, and reunion chats) are protected with client-side encryption using AES-256-GCM. Your encryption key is derived from your family code on your device using PBKDF2 and is never stored on or transmitted to our servers. This means:
What's encrypted: Messages, family feed posts, drops, and reunion chats.
What's not encrypted: Photos, recipes, events, shopping lists, traditions, pets, family tree, and other collaborative content.
You must be at least 16 years old to create a Clasper family hub. Children and teens under 16 may use Clasper through a kid or teen account created and managed by their parent or guardian within an existing hub. Parents are responsible for their children's use of the service.
